97 STUDIO RASIC
The historically significant “Umjetnost
Uvjeravanja” (Art of Persuading) exhibition,
organized by the Hrvatski Oglasni
Zbor (the Croatian Advertising Association)
and the Muzej za Umjetnost i Obrt (the Museum of Arts and
Crafts) in Zagreb, celebrates 170 years of advertising in Croatia.
Curated by Croatian design theorist Fedja Vukic, the show
encompasses over 1500 advertisements from various media. Studio
Rasic created the entire interactive, multimedia concept and
look of the exhibition, and visual identity, advertising and printed
materials to support it. The “Graffiti Room” is the introduction
to the exhibition. The space graphically illustrates the five sections
of the exhibition: 1) target groups, 2) method/communication
channels, 3) messages/meanings, 4) media and 5) advertising politics
and policy. “Graffiti was once significant for rebellion against
the authorities and neglect of ‘small’ people. In today’s world [it]
became, like most other alternative things, just another medium
for big corporations in advertising,” notes Marko Rasic. “That
is why the graffiti room comes into this whole story as one more
medium for advertising; yet again it serves as a comment for this
situation. We cannot hide or run away from advertising. At the
same time, man is the creator and the victim.” by Terry Lee Stone
