50 VOICE
The process of building a capabilities brochure for Australian development
firm Daycorp was much like overseeing a giant construction site:
Very specific photography and identity needs had to meet exacting standards.
“If one of these aspects was not executed to expectation,” says
Voice’s Anthony Deleo, “then the entire document could have fallen to
pieces very easily and very quickly.”
Five years ago, Voice was asked to create a single logotype for
Daycorp. Convinced of the value of creating a distinctive visual
language for the company, Voice then extrapolated the custom
lettering of the original logo into an entire typeface that is
used throughout the booklet. With a strong foundation in place,
designers had a second challenge: Most of the required images
were mundane, often unfinished development sites. Enlisting fine
art photographer Toby Richardson, the designers analyzed each
subject to capture elements of perspective, light and movement.
The result is a dynamic look at development. “It has effectively
showcased a variety of our projects and given the commercial
property market a concise insight into our business, our history
and the scope of projects we have been involved with,” says Daycorp’s
Travis Day. “So effective [was it] that it recently proved to
be a major infiuencing factor in our company winning a development
tender.” by Alissa Walker
