“I grew up here in South Orange County where my family also owned a beach house,” says 2Advanced Studios creative director Shane Mielke. “So surfing, bodyboarding, and the beach lifestyle have always been a part of my mentality.” When the marketing team at O’Neill handed Mielke’s design crew a “no buttons” requirement for this website, he made it a personal goal to come up with a unique navigation metaphor for the whole site, while creating lots of fun animations throughout.

“The design of the pages in the website was shared between several of us, so my individual personality really came through while animating all of the Flash,” he says, having taken a lighthearted approach to his Flash animation.

O’Neill came away with exactly what they’d hoped for and then some. “We wanted a single website that offered an engaging experience and centralized product content to our customers worldwide,” says Bret Muhlitner, O’Neill’s director of marketing. “2Advanced Studios not only delivered on these goals, they substantially bolstered our online market presence. The added interactive features and an innovative design went beyond our overall expectations.”
