The saying is: Money makes the world go around. Fair enough—the lights
have to stay on. The essential emollient, money manages to insinuate itself
into all of our lives. And those who refuse to entertain the reminders that
design is a business—whether it’s conducted in a studio, in-house or freelance
setting—are always welcome to join the Starving Artists Guild.

| [15] PhotoSpin is launching a new search engine
for its updated website in March. The new
search is built on Boolean logic and includes
the ability to search within results and across
media categories. Users will be able to immediately drop images into a lightbox and either
download or e-mail a low-resolution version
from the search results page. Perfect for designers
working with clients who like to approve
images on the fly.
Boolean search works like this: A keyword
of black dog may return many images, but when
keyworded with - poodles, the search returns only
images of dogs without poodles. When keyworded
with + poodles, the search returns only
images with poodles. Search within results allows
an even more refined search. Also added
to the search engine are conceptual keywords.

| [16] Alamy Images provides innovative new
products and services for customers, including
an easy download tool for high-resolution images
for certain licensed-images users, and an
interpolations service that enables customers to
increase an image’s resolution without impacting
its quality. 866.671.7305, www.alamy.com |

| [17]Botanica knows that a flower isn’t simply
a flower, a tree is not just a tree; so the company
keywords its botanical images with both proper
and Latin names. If you’re searching for a Betty
Boop Rose or a bundle of Origanum Majorana,
try Botanica. 800.720.9755, www.botanica.com
