“This promotion is not only about elevating the perception of Mohawk Options and demonstrating what the paper can do, but more about developing a dialogue about possibilities for the design community,” says Jamie Koval, principal of VSA Partners. This first in what will be a series of books features interior designer Barbara Barry. Each piece will bring the reader into the creative process of someone outside the graphic design community through three sections: Inspirations, Explorations, and Realizations.

“Barbara is a wonderful choice for this project because she’s taken her training as a painter and graphic designer and translated these skills into the 3D forms of interior, furniture, fabric, and product design,” Koval points out. All the visuals for this promotion were documented directly from Barry’s office, portfolio, sketchbooks, and finished products. And the design reflects her aesthetic: clean lines and elegant layouts with many different hues of the greens that play such a consistent role in her own work.

“Giving this piece a compelling story, some scale and beauty were critical to making this something people would want to experience,” according to Koval. “It’s important for a paper promotion to have a keepsake quality.” Laurel Saville
