When the Kraft Nabisco Championship Golf Tournament requested a website overhaul, they wanted something dynamic and comprehensive at once, on par with other major golf tournament websites. They also, says jack-of-all-tasks Christopher Jennings, “wanted it to be a one-stop source for all information regarding the KNC tournament.”

Because this tournament has such a rich history going back 30 years, Jennings wanted his site design to sport a timeless look to authentically accommodate that history along with all of the upto- date, obligatory content.

“I left some room for the dynamic and energized nature of the tournament by letting the individual modules like ‘celebrities’ and ‘contact us’ be a little more animated and fun,” he says. The overall design is simple and clean, employing a subtle color palette. “The site has a modular feel because it was a good way to deal with the various components,” he says. “Loading files separately cuts down on the overall load time.”

Having built the home page in Flash, it was important that he make it easy for non-Flash users, such as the KNC staΩ, to update the ticker and headline areas. “Additionally,” he adds, “integrating video into the course tour was challenging, but ultimately very rewarding.” Dana Rouse
