51. TITANIUM DESIGN
The Menomonee Club annual report started with a scavenger hunt
through the organization’s photo archives—large plastic bins chock-full
of snapshots dating back to the ’40s. Kelly Friedl, executive designer at Titanium
Design, spent two days narrowing down the image choices, which
depicted the organization’s young members participating in everything
from tutoring sessions to sports. “It was absolutely impossible to edit photos,”
says Friedl. “The ones I didn’t pick were so hilarious.”
It’s the style and fashion choices depicted in the vintage images
that bring a sense of humor to the piece, but, ultimately, Friedl’s
photo-editing choices were driven by her desire for a good mix of
time periods, age groups, and activities. In a year when the club
moved into a new, state-of-the-art facility, the report serves as
a reminder of the organization’s long history. And the booklet’s
theme, “Some things never change,” reminds members that the
club is still dedicated to offering timeless childhood experiences
like baseball practice. “It really captured the essence of our club,”
says Menomonee Club’s board president Tripti S. Kasal. “We’re a
kid’s club. It’s hard to make an annual report fun, but that’s what
Titanium Design did for us.” Michelle Taute
