18. LAURIE DEMARTINO DESIGN
Laurie DeMartino of Studio d Design had the same stationery system for
a decade, designed with subtlety in muted colors. Then she moved, and
that deep-sixed her stationery. Rather than updating her current system,
she decided the move was an opportunity to redesign the whole thing, including
a company name change.
“I wanted to convey the essence of my company and its work,”
DeMartino says of her new identity. “It centers around the ‘art’ in
DeMartino,” she says. “Each label takes a different approach: some
whimsical, some illustrative, some graphic. I think it’s much more
representative of the type of design work I do.”
Combined as a whole, the labels made a terrific poster used as a
moving announcement. The poster is comprised of 68 labels that
can each be used individually. “The former system I had was a bit
more subdued,” DeMartino says. “This time I wanted it to speak a
bit louder.” Dana Rouse
