97 MIRIELLO GRAFICO
“Hold on to me, keep me.” This is the response Dennis Garcia sought in
designing business cards for Miriello Grafico, the San Diego design and
branding firm where he works as an art director. The resulting card—clean and tactile—is the showpiece of a three-part stationery system.
Designed along with letterhead and an innovative envelope, the costeffective
business card was created with longevity in mind. Though uniformly
printed, each is then wrapped with a small color label that dazzles
the eye and serves as a container for personal information. It’s a long-term
system for the company that allows new employees to have personalized,
ready-made cards without having to reprint.
Garcia’s greatest accomplishment, however, was in designing
a new identity for the company that is also his employer. As he
put it, “It was challenging to define ourselves.” Miriello Grafico
wanted a refreshed look to match its evolution, and a new identity
to complement its move to a modern building. The identity successfully
“accompanies the space” and reflects Miriello Grafico’s
ideas and philosophies. by Rebecca Williams
