76 HENDERSON BROMSTEAD ART
Every year for the last 12 years Henderson Bromstead Art (HBA) has created
a collectible poster for the Triad Health Project’s annual Dining For
Friends HIV/AIDS fundraising event. The piece promotes a local version
of the national series of dinner parties hosted by various donors—in this
case, across the city of Greensboro, N.C.—on a single night each spring.
With thousands of participants, the event usually raises over
$125,000 that night, which then goes to support HIV/AIDS healthcare
and education programs. HBA creative director Hayes Henderson
has art-directed the posters and additional collateral items
such as an invitation, reply cards and thank-you notes. “I have either
done the poster myself or collaborated with a different designer
each year,” says Henderson. “It’s a fun project, so we pass it around.”
Solutions have featured a variety of stylistic directions, but consistently
present a single-image illustration. Upbeat in tone, these
central images, as seen in this year’s poster, capture the theme of
dining, community involvement and philanthropy for a good cause.
At a time when many HIV/AIDS organizations across the country
are struggling, HBA’s continuing support of Dining For Friends
makes a huge difference in the community. by Terry Lee Stone
