56 KNOCK
Treat and Company is not simply sugar-coated, but sweet through and through, with a flair for creatively inspiring clients to indulge their whims for better marketing. In this candy-inspired identity by KNOCK, Treat is associated with whimsical “little treats”—gold leaf embossing on business cards that suggests candy wrappings; pink letterhead sheets that evoke cotton candy.

It’s a clever design that helps Treat establish an atmosphere of creative development with their clients. KNOCK art director Todd Paulson describes the style as “office vernacular juxtaposed with fun and fashion.” Paulson explains the firm’s stylistic approach: “There is more to it than clean and simple. There has to be a little quirkiness or something tactile about it.” In this case, KNOCK’s work enables Treat to set its eight arms working—like the octopus that lurks in the center of it all. by Jaime Groetsema
