As Tiffany Meyers observes in her overview of the 100 winners, one can’t peg 2009 as the year of any specific color or typographic convention. But the winning projects are reflective of today’s increasingly diverse design discipline. In fact, one has to wonder if there is any longer such a thing as a design discipline—in light of today’s fast-changing and even amorphous practice, the word discipline seems a little out of place.

For the first of a series of publications devoted to emerg­ing graphic art talents, Rick Valicenti interviewed Mar­ian Bantjes and subsequently designed this brochure for Fox River Paper as a promotion for its Sundance recycled line.

Multiple printing techniques and papers serve to showcase Fox River’s offerings, as well as Bantjes’ talent. Valicenti says, “Marian Bantjes deserved many more pages than this book could afford, but it was my pleasure to use the paper promotion’s budget to publish a keepsake worthy of space on every designer’s bookshelf.” by Sheree Clark
